Ideation & Wireframing
Created low-fidelity wireframes based on research insights.
Included features like a search function for resources, Q&A registration, and support group forums to meet the users' needs.
Iterations were made to improve usability based on feedback from early user testing.
The mid-fidelity wireframes incorporated more detailed elements and visuals, including a scrollable horizontal navigation bar and added illustrations to enhance the user experience.
Key changes were made to the search functionality, community forum screens, and registration process based on user feedback.
Testing & Iteration
Usability tests were done to identify areas for improvement, particularly in search functionality, registration processes, and community forum features.
After conducting usability tests, I further refined the design by incorporating suggestions like clearer navigation and enhancing the Q&A registration process.
The iterations focused on ensuring a smooth and supportive journey for users anticipating surgery or recovering from surgery.
Key Findings
Search Functionality: Most users found the search easy to use, but some wanted a filter option. P2 noted, "The search was easy, but a filter would help me find what I needed faster."
Registration Process: Users found registration straightforward but wanted more details about the Q&A sessions. P1 stated, "It would have been great to know more about the experts and the session before registering."
Community Forum: While joining was easy, navigating and posting could be more intuitive. P4 shared, "Joining was simple, but I wasn’t sure what to expect."
Navigation: Navigation was smooth for most, though some suggested clearer home and back buttons. P5 said, "I didn’t encounter issues," while P4 suggested, "A clearer home button would be helpful."
Iterations
After conducting usability tests, I further refined the design by incorporating suggestions like clearer navigation and enhancing the Q&A registration process.
The iterations focused on ensuring a smooth and supportive journey for users anticipating surgery or recovering from surgery.
Hi-Fidelity
Final Design
The final high-fidelity prototype brought all these elements together with a clean, engaging design.
Key features like personalized content, expert advice, and peer support groups were emphasized to ensure that users felt supported throughout their recovery.
Interact with the prototype to use the Research Library to find information on knee surgery recovery, register for Q&A session, post a question, and join a community forum.
Results and Impact
Users seeking surgery or medical procedures often lack clear, reliable information and support. Medivise aims to provide a comprehensive resource to ease this process, offering guidance, community support, and professional advice.
Reflection
Working on the Medivise app enabled me to gain experience in user research, wireframing, and prototyping, and learn the value of integrating user feedback. Designing features like personalized health resources and community forums sharpened my problem-solving abilities and helped me manage multiple design aspects effectively. Overall, this project was a key growth opportunity in preparing me for future design challenges.
Designing Clarity and Comfort in Healthcare Journeys
An end-to-end solution for Medivise—a healthcare support app that helps users plan surgeries, access trusted resources, and connect with peer and professional guidance.
Role
UX Designer
Timeline
Facing surgery is tough—but finding support and trustworthy guidance shouldn’t be.
Medivise is a mobile app created to make the journey to surgery feel a little less intimidating and a lot more connected. With an easy-to-navigate library of reliable health content, friendly peer support groups, and live Q&A sessions with real medical professionals, Medivise helps users feel more prepared and less alone. I led the UX design from start to finish—researching user needs, mapping out the experience, and designing a clean, compassionate interface to support people when they need it most.
Industry
Healthcare has changed a lot in recent years-but not always for the better.
Patients must manage their healthcare more than ever.
77% start their journey online-but only 12% have strong health literacy.
The result? Confusion, overload, and poor decision-making.
In early interviews, I heard people saying
Preparing for surgery can be confusing and overwhelming.
"I didn’t know who to trust after my diagnosis. It was really overwhelming."“I feel alone and overwhelmed.”
Emotional Isolation adds physical recovery challenges.
Imagine instead a future where you know exactly what to expect before surgery.
Real stories from real people who’ve been there.
Experts answer questions in simple, clear language.
Personalized, timely support that reduces stress and guesswork.
The path to clarity is cluttered, confusing, and easy to abandon.
Info lives in too many places-portals, PDFs, and paperwork.
Medical jargon creates more confusion.
Friends, family, and even doctors can’t always fill the gap.
Medivise-Real support, real answers, finally in one place.
A single, trusted space for surgery prep and recovery.
Expert guidance, peer insight, and total anonymity.
A judgment-free zone to ask, learn, and connect.
This new approach will offer
Plain-language, step-by-step recovery tips.
Live Q&As with trusted professionals.
Anonymous support groups with people who get it.
All in one place-no more searching, guessing, or stressing.
Surgery doesn’t have to be scary or lonely
Medivise empowers people with knowledge and connection.
The right support brings peace of mind.
Patients can feel ready, informed, and in control.
